Copernicus reports a warm, dry September across much of western and central Europe, with wetter conditions in parts of the north and northeast. This is a retrospective assessment, not a current forecast.
Why it matters
For sowing and harvest planning, check current national forecasts and field conditions. A monthly regional anomaly cannot establish field readiness or seed-production losses.
Observed September conditions
Copernicus places European September temperature 1.54ยฐC above the 1991โ2020 average. Its hydrological review describes rainfall and surface soil-moisture deficits across much of western and central Europe. Late rain provided local relief but also flooding; parts of northern and northeastern Europe were wetter.
Use and limitations
The hydrological review treats soil moisture as qualitative context. Use this dated baseline to frame local checks for seedbed moisture and harvest access, not to prescribe operations. The press-release header is dated 12 October; its embedded newsflash says 9 October. No October forecast or crop-loss estimate is inferred.
